Mount Merapi Response

YOGYAKARTA

(Donor: ADRA International, ADRA Asia Regional Office, West Indonesia Union Mission of Seventh-day Adventist Church)

The eruption of Mt. Merapi on October 26, 2010 had destructively affected the local people. Many people and cattle are died and a lot lost their possessions. ADRA Indonesia responded through the distribution of aids to 490 families who stayed in the camp Glagaharjo, Cangkringan sub-district, Sleman district, Yogyakarta. This was the nearest camp—about 9 km away—to the south of Mount Merapi. ADRA Indonesia team was helped by KMAY—the Adventist students from Yogyakarta—and the members of Timoho Seventh-day Adventist Church (Yogyakarta) to wrap the packages of hygiene kits and to distribute them directly to the victims.
