(Donor: ADRA Czech Republic)

This is one of several Small Enterprise Development (SED) Projects in Indonesia done and initiated by ADRA Indonesia since December 1998.
The Story of Mrs. Susilawati

Mrs Susilawati (above) has joined ADRA’s program for a year. Her work at that time was selling clothes, shoes, and home appliances with installments. Many of her customers cannot pay their credit loan. She got no benefits and even she lost her capital. She did not know how to solve the problem of her business and family finance. After joining the trainings, she started to think to change her work. She changed her business to selling chips, ice cream and other snacks. After some time, she added one more business, selling chicken. She cut the chicken, cleaned and delivered it to her customers. She promoted her business in any occasion, including at the cooperative meeting and in her own group. Her business network broadened through the cooperative membership. Many of the members made orders. She acknowledged that her business could gradually grow because of ADRA and “Bunga Laut” Cooperative. She opened her mind then got an idea and motivation to start the new business with ADRA loan. Now she is busy with her expanding business.
